4 1/2" Spot lights
I had been running Wagner 50 or 55 watt spots on my FLHR. Used to get them from J&P for $17. Harley $35 for 35 watt. They do seem to burn out quicker. I have burned out a few on trips on west, not sure if the long days or vibration. I have burned out headights too. So high performance does seem to go quicker.
Either way, I need two new ones since last fall. J&P doesn't sell them. I found these on the internet. Not sure how they will hold up to the vibration. $27 for 2 with shipping. I had been looking in Harley catalogs, but wasn't sure whats good. I am consider converting to the new style. These were cheap and here in a few days. I have had good luck with Fedex. I have a few late botched shipments with UPS. 50 Watt - PAR36 - HaloXen - Wide Flood - 12 Volt - Halogen / Xenon Gas Filled - 50PAR36/WFL/12V - Halco 107786 | 1000Bulbs.com This site has lots of lights on it for all kinds of applications.

The new style LED headlights and auxillary lights are impressive as far as performance. There's several videos out there someplace.Expensive but should last a fairly long time.I'm in no hurry, get around to it one of these years.

I wasn't going to go to LED, just the same style as my 07, Halogen.
But these were cheap. Have to see how they hold up to vibration, and how they look at night. I am also running 100/110 H3 on this bike. I have been flashed, when I have my dims on. Guy who owned it before me hit a deer, so he jacked up all the lights.

An old thread I know.
I got a deal on 2, new in the package 9003(H4) Sliverstar Ultra H3s headlamp bulbs. 4100k color with no stupid looking blue, got them both for 30.00. The new headlamp is aimed properly, but with it's more candlepower, wider & farther distance beam, on low beam, I get "flashed" from oncoming traffic often. The color made the factory "Aux Passing Lamps" look really dim and yellow. I searched for a 27-35 watt 4-1/2" sealed halogen beam with at least a 4,000k color, no joy. I found a 4-1/2" clear, non-fluted globe with smooth reflector, add your own H3 bulb. The details stated they were a replacment for the stock HD 4-1/2". I ordered the pair, $39.00. They were 3/16 of an inch smaller in diameter, with a slightly different glass rim around the outside edge. I tried foam tape, wrapping the globe with a few things, nothing held the bulb square, flush and tight when the chrome clamp-band screw was tightened. I finally used some RTV, and made three small passes around the "edges" of the glass, front, center and then a bead across the rear glass and reflector. I built the "outside diameter" of the RTV about 3/16" larger than the old sealed beam. That worked really well. Now I'm trying different small H3 foglamp bulbs. I'm OK with running 37-50 watt bulbs, but 100 watt seems like just too much. Ill add these new 4-1/2" units have a much larger vertical beam then the originals had. I can light up overhead freeway signs from a long way away. |

Well to be honest, I went deer spotting once in my life. I was 20 and visiting a family friend in rural Pa. The next day I went hunting with them and
I lost all enjoyment of it when he shot a deer. Sorry killing anything but insects and the occasional cage just isn't my cup of tea. Now as far as spotting deer with my new lights. I aiming the headlamp & passing lamps as per the FSM. This evening I was riding thru the Metroparks (a county owned area that literally encircles the Greater Cleveland area) and because of all the trees and being in a valley the road gets dark well before the sunsets. As a came out of a twistie, I saw a pair of eyes well off the road in the bushes to my left. The deer came out, but no danger of a hit. I went back and when thru again but without the aux. passing lamps on. The bushy area was lit from the headlamp (low beam) but not near as well as the 1st time. That makes me think at least the left aux might be pointing too far left. Clearly the FSM set-up at a distance of 25' might not be applicable to these brighter, further distance lamps (headlamp included). Anyone have any suggestions? And that was the good part of this evening's ride. |

![]() Hell if it was gals flashin titties, I'd feel like I was looking at the daily titties post. I'm pretty certain they don't like my headlights, but that's their problem as long as my lights are aimed properly. |
