Harley getting out of sidecars
Harley-Davidson exiting the sidecar business - JSOnline
Harley-Davidson Inc. said Friday it is getting out of the sidecar business after nearly a century of making the passenger ride-alongs. The company will end sidecar production following the remainder of the 2011 model-year orders, Harley said in a news release. Effective immediately, no new sidecar orders will be taken. The sidecar was first made available to Harley-Davidson owners in 1914 and will remain a proud part of the company's history, Harley said in the news release. As the popularity of Harley's trikes has increased, the demand for sidecars has fallen, according to the company. Harley said it will continue to offer service, parts and technical support for its sidecars, as well as honoring the warranties.

I was looking at sidecars last year. Harley does make one of the better looking ones, IMO. Pricey though. Weight is matched for a Harley too.
What gave me pause, was they go through rear tires quicker. I suppose this is due to the trike market.

I like the look of a custom trike. Though now they are mass produced and not the same. I'd be curious to ride both, to compare.
