Sporty Oil Leak Around Rear Of Engine
I developed a pretty good oil leak at the rear of my engine just above the lower swingarm. After pulling the battery and battery box for access I found it was coming from the drain hoses on the oil tank. Inspected it very closely (after clean up) and found that the stock squeeze clamps from moco were loose and that was causing the leak. Replaced the factory clamps with screw clamps and leak is gone. Might want to check your clamps at next service and replace them. P.S Mine is a 96 XLH Hugger 883

I know what you mean LB. Had the same thing, only it wasn't just the clamp on the feed and return lines. The hoses themselves were dried out
and hardened. The bike was 10 yrs old so I wasn't surprised. The one line was an easy replacement, but the other ended under the cam cover. I had a b*tch of a time with that one because I didn't want to pull the cam cover and make it easy on myself. I was able to do it and only lose a quarter pint of blood in the process. Any time you lose less than a quart of blood it is considered a successful repair.

Well it seems the new clamps done the trick. It hasn't leaked a drop sense I replaced the factory clamps....whew !!! glad that is all it was :amen:

I'm glad thats all it was,an oil spot on the floor can realy pis ya off if your not quite shur wher its comeing from.
