extractors
There are many types of extractors and all work better for different jobs the two i use are these
![]() the one on left works good but doesnt always get enough bite or the hole must be drilled kinda deep so it doesnt bottom out. the one on right works good with most jobs. whenever using extractors you(I) want to use the center flutes and great care must be taken using these, they can snap off with no warning...thats when life starts to suck. the one on left, i cant get a p/n off of but its made by matco and was in a set but packaged in a bag which is long gone. the one on the right is made by Mac tools as a set P/N 10SE and is packaged in a blowmolded case with a chart of recommended drill sizes

Don't have a pic, but they also make an extractor set for stripped hex head nuts/bolts. Its been a life saver a few times for me.

9 out of 10 times I get the best results from using Left hand twist drill bits.

ok, ill give you that. LH drill bits do work but in my experience its been more about the heat they generate during drilling process that remove the broken stud. that usually requires drilling almost all the way through. Not bad if stud is only a few threads in but say 3/4" deep you run the risk of breaking drill bit if you dont have the steadiest hands...ask me how i know

ok, here it is. this one is for lugnuts(biggest one i own to show flutes best). tap onto stripped nut just to get a initial bite, then use a ratchet to turn.
