Bike'n-n-hike'n
Yesterday was the warmest day so far this year, after some morning clouds burned off we managed a blistering 82 degrees!:clap
Well I couldn't just sit around here on a day like that. I've been doing some mountain bike'n and hike'n near the house down along the river and in the hills to get in shape. However a day like this called for something a little more interesting so I incorporated a motorcycle ride into the picture. I rode up past the lakes and into the Nat.Forest,I took FS 90 which follows the upper Lewis River and on to the Mt Adams wilderness area. Then I cut off on FS88 to Trout Lake and the Columbia River Gorge. (see map) Yacolt, WA to Yacolt, WA - Google Maps I parked the bike along 90 next to a bridge across the river and locked her up,strapped on my sidearm and hit the Lewis River trail. This part of the trail has been there for thousands of years used by natives for fishing since long before the first white man entered the area. The hike was about 4 miles there and back so I got my workout for the day. Here's a few pics from the trail and a couple from the ride to Trout Lake. One of the many creeks that dumps into the river along 90 on my way up. ![]() Video ![]() Parked my trusty steed at the trail's bridge crossing. ![]() Along the river we go......... ![]() There are lots of big old growth trees along the river, the big Douglas Fir average about 6 feet in diameter near the base of the trunk. ![]() Probably 200ft tall as well. ![]() The trail is pretty good most of the way. ![]() ![]() Gnarly old Big Leaf Maple ![]() ![]() One of the few places to view an entire old growth is from this meadow. This tree is easily 200ft tall. ![]() Near my turnaround destination the river gets much louder and I can see mist in the air,it's Lower Falls the third in a series of waterfalls along the trail. I hike down a steep grade to the rivers edge for a pic from a distance. The trees in the water are about 60ft in length for some perspective of the size of these falls. ![]() A few pics and some video of the falls from closer viewpoints. ![]() ![]() Video ![]()

Sorry about the nasty early season. Glad you're making up for lost time.
Great looking country. Nice pics even if pics can't do justice to the scenery.

...btw, it didn't get below 80* here the other night until after 1:00AM. We've been in the upper 90's and the heat index/humidity almost unbarable!
