That was close..
i guess we can call this an adventure..
I had a close call yesterday, closest i've had in years, I guess karma was with me.. donna and I were traveling north on us 31 thru radcliff Ky. at the intersection of 313 and us 31, This intersection is a known killer, for both biker and and automobile drivers as well. we were in the fast lane, to left, to "own " our lane. this white ford pickup and small car. entered the hiway from the right, into the fast lane, with the car in front.. the car sped off, causing no problems, the pickup followed the car into the fast lane, only yeilding for the stop sign, and busting on out.. i watch the road way a head and was aware they where already acting squirrly.. as the truck pulled into our lane i started to slow(somewhere around 50) the truck signaled right and then crossed the right lane of the highway to the emergency lane..there is a street to the right there so it looked as though thats where they were headed.. I was wrong.. from the emergency lane the truck took an immediate left directly into my path, had I been in the right lane.. we would be hurt now and who knows if we would be able to write this today, as the truck turned, I was immediately on the brakes and turning to the left to slide the bike broadside into the truck.. The truck was halfway across the fast lane by now. and realizied we were there.. I released the back brake, just before it started to slide, and punched around the front of the truck, i had to take some grass on the median and on down the road.. we got , out of danger our fingers were in the air. and the bastard just sped away.. holy fuck and blessed we be... ride safe my brothers I think they want to kill us all.....

Glad it went well. Fantastic post and rep to ya. You just did a great illustrative explanation on how experience pays off. Though you're putting the pieces together now, I'm sure that at the time you simply reacted as a result of your time in the saddle. Your mind and body reacted in coordination; all those little specks of knowledge stored from past close calls, possible accidents, near misses, and the like, came together at the right time. A good read for old timers and the new riders.

Lesser rider might have had possibly a different outcome. What the hell is it about this week? Work buddy was the first on the scene of a fatality accident Monday (Bus-car); I about got killed by a dude dropping a fist-sized rock on me driving (truck) thru Gary yesterday... Not even a full moon...
