I like vents. Expect Alaska to be in the mid 60's to mid 70's so it may not be real important up there. There are tons of bugs, a shield would be good.
My Shoei FF vents ok, but I have trouble with the visor fogging. My wife's Arai doesn't fog for her as much. When I was there it also rained a lot. weight has never bothered me so I didn't spend the extra $$ for carbon fiber for a couple of oz savings.

I think I would the helmet I am going to get. Bell Mag 8. 3/4. What I like is the visor ratcheted up. Dan has it. and says you can ride with it up, which is what I wanted.
The black matte finish looked real cool. But Dan said it doesn't hold up well, the display model already had a piece missing. I didn't feel like carrying it around so I will order it. Bell Helmets | Bell Mag-8 | Bell Mag-8 Helmets Little bulkier then my 1/2 helmet. But I will be wearing it alot this trip. You have to wear it in Canada, and I am thinking good idea to wear it in Alaska too. Bell has free shipping, so its the same price as the booth. Though I might be able to find it cheaper still.

Reading reviews on the internet, some people complained about lack of vents, and that it got hot. Probably not a problem for this trip, but some thing to think about.
Couple mentioned it caught air, but most were happy. What did you think Dan?
