J-B,
What do you mean it has already infected all your programs and folders? The way alot of these new trojans work is if you get infected or open up a single bad link without protection it will infect you not only with itself but with many others and backdoor code. Whatever you do DO NOT log into any banks or use any other online systems with critical information until you get this fixed. Personally its just easier and better to reformat than it is to try and fix your current install. Problem is you never know if you got them all and depending on what you have been infected with you could have a rootkit that is hiding other processes or trojans/backdoors from detection. What AV do you have installed? Avast is a good one and once its installed has a boot time scanner. What this means is it will start scanning your system at boot time before the OS comes up. So any trojans that are able to hide themselves from your OS won't be able to hide from the AV. The bad thing is any linked virus code within your registry will not be found. Many viruses now have links within your registry to make sure they stay installed...if you remove them it will just reinstall. Your best bet is to reinstall your OS and then add Avast and Microsoft Defender.

Once I opened up Internet Explorer is when my computer got infected according to the message that popped up in the bottom right side..I was farming, harvesting my crops when the screen changed over saying I was infected and where..
I don't have outlook express set up yet on the other puter.. I for one don't like to use it.. I have the Norton 360 for protection (AV) So how do I reinstall the OS?

J-B,
First thing you should do is either make sure your Norton's is running correctly or what I would do is uninstall Norton's and install Avast. IMHO Norton sucks. Norton and Trend Micro are the two worst AV programs out there. Actually what you saw saying 542 viruses might be an attempt to get you to click a window...did you click anything after it said you were infected? This might just be an attempt to get you to "buy" their services. You might not be infected at all. The easiest thing to do is make sure Norton's is up to date and let it run a full scan on your system. If you are infected you will need to backup any data you have on your system. Pics...documents...anything that you want to keep. Then insert your restore CD and reboot. It will walk you through the whole process.

They wanted me to buy a personal antivirus ..I already have one..It keeps popping up I can't find it anywhere to delete it..it's in my task bar..
I did a full system scan with Norton before I posted anything.. It did find one and it got rid of it..

Norton's suck, virus nazi's turn on your windows defender comes with Vista, (like spybot) I agree most time it is better to reformat than try and repair..
sounds like the Win PC type trojan

I just saw one of my friends on Facebook got the same thing. Another friend on there got some sort of virus that keeps sending out messages to all his friends to go see a video and has a hyperlink attached. SO far, nothing has triggered my antivirus program yet...

If I'm guessing right the only virus you have is the one that keeps popping up telling you that you have viruses. Google the name of the program that they want you to buy.
My ex-wife had this shitty program keep coming up and telling her she had hundreds of viruses. It wanted her payment info to "activate" the product and remove the viruses. I googled the program name and found out that the program itself was the virus. There were instructions on how to remove it. |
