No signal from new PCI video card
old video card stopped working. Got a new PCI video card. Disable onboard VGA driver installed new card. It reconizes the new card and installed drivers, but when I plug monitor into it....I get nothing but a box on the screen that says "NO SIGNAL" I went to bios and set it to reconize both vga & PCI...nothing, tried PCI primary...nothing...PCI secondary...nothing.......Is it a lost cause?

check the drivers, change the bio's to choose which video to use. It should detect the pci. You said it saw the card and loaded the drivers so it was working befor the drivers were loaded or were you plugged into the onboard? Plugged into the new card at startup do you see any posts? if not it could be the new card is bad.

could be the freq of the monitor. If you boot to dos do you get text? If you boot to bios do you get text? If your running XP or Vista does the microsoft screen come up ( this part is VGA mode ). If XP can you boot VGA mode or safe mode?? Have you tried another monitor or tried a different resolution and freq ?

Like he said, check all that. Could be bad cable or pin from monitor. Check it by hooking to another computer and go from what info you have now to check.

I had this happen to me once. First reset the card into the slot and ensure that it is fully seated also ensure that the 6 pin socket on the card is also properly seated.

Was it full of dust and dirt? Computers are little vacuums that suck shit in all day and caused it to overheat and burn up parts. I sealed mine up and ran 2 fans out back from CPU and motherboard area and one inside power supply that draws from inside an blows directly outside. Blowing in front I have a 120mm fan that blows in. On outside of case have a piece of air filter, this actually, get em at lowes or HD. Furnace Filters, AC Filters, Replacement Filter: WEB Vent Register Filters, 12-Pack Custom
Boxes and cards, memory, CPU and everything gets hot as hell inside and shitty air flow dont help. If you dont wanna get to carried away with changes at least put in higher CFM's fans and at bare minimun blow inside out every couple weeks or so dependin on how dusty your comp area is. |
