Heavy Rains Flood Putnam County Up To 6 Inches Of Rain Fall In Cookeville Area POSTED: 1:29 pm CDT September 16, 2009 UPDATED: 5:12 pm CDT September 16, 2009 COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- A handful of homes were flooded in the Cookeville area Wednesday where an estimated 6 inches of rain fell. Putnam County schools were dismissed one hour early so students could get home before streets flooded. 21st Century and Leaps were also closed, but School Age Care remained open. No injuries were reported. In Nashville  , the Tennessee State Fair moved several activities inside Wednesday because of heavy rain. It also rained across west Tennessee, with Memphis receiving more than 1 inch. Flood advisories were posted across much of middle and west Tennessee, with more rain forecast for Thursday night and beyond.
