Thats true, if they get in trouble chances are they woulda done the same in a different car. Same driver.
i just look at other things like insurance and gas. Plus i had an elcamino in highschool. me and the g/f would drive into cornfields and "lay" in the back of it and it was also good for going to same place with friends and drinking. Few years later dropped a 350 in it and had a mean muscle truck.

My first car was a 1968 Chrysler Imperial wrecked it three times but it never had a dent.

Only car I had with a passing gear at 115 mph.

Having been down this road I'd go for big,tough and slow.
Something like a one ton International Travelall 4X4 with a six cylinder engine.

My oldest boy trashed a few rigs by the time he was 21,he's still tough on them and almost 23 now but they are lasting a little longer.
His first was a '76 Chev 3/4 ton 4X4,several trips into the ditch with it and he rounded off all four corners but never got hurt and that was my top priority.
