Connie, my Japanese Sexslave
Adding another bike to the garage, 2001 Kawaski Concourse, 20k miles, 1000cc. My dad just bought a BMW 1200RS, 130HP, and this bike is just to slow for him.
I plan to use it for work, leave my stuff loaded up on it. I had planned to do that with my FLHR, but found myself taking the Ultra, for the weather protection. Especially since I never know when I have to work late. Concourse have a alot of weather protection, some say to much for the summer. 7.5 gallon tank will be nice, I get tired of gassing up every other day. I've like this bike, because its so functional. It has hooks on it for tieing stuff down. Bags are ABS, don't have to worry about scratching them. These bikes are known as workhorses. Inline 4s. Carbed, watercooled, shaft drive. I'd be tempted to take this AK, if I went alone. Ever since I rode the Dragon, I have been itching for a sport touring bike.

Hopefully just leave it alone and ride it. I might put a radio in. See how the seat goes. I really don't want to put to much into.
Also thinking this might be a good bike for a winter putt, no chrome.

I got to pick it up in Houghton, probably in the next few weeks. Only paying $2500 for it. So its scratching my itch for a new toy, but costing alot.
I put about 25k miles on for work, at .50 a mile, so it does pay for itself. I don't mind racking up miles on my stuff cause I am getting compensated, but I thought this would be fun. Plus I can just leave my gear on it, come home and ride a Harley. When I am out on it, I will probably wear HD shirts just to screw with people. Though I will probably be mention how I have a Harley at home every chance I get. Ha.

Its my dads. Though these are fairly cheap, they have always been simple. The bluebook is 2400-3200.
My dad picked up 2000 BMW 1200RS, 16k miles, from some 70 year old guy living in somewhat of shack, for $5300. He also has GS that he will be selling. A dual sport is next on my list. But I can't justify it right now. Maybe when I get my camp, I could leave it up there. The bikes have a big following. When it came out orginally it was competing with BMWs, but they haven't updated it much. Few years ago they came out with 1400, but I don't care for the look to sporty. I have actually wanted this bike for awhile. I just like how functional it is. I have never rode a sporty bike, curious to try it. Not that this is crotch rocket. When I built my 98" I kept up with it, until about 100, then it pulled away. My 98" falls off hard over 100. I think the heads are bad, maybe needs more fuel.

A good friend of mine rode his Concours from Anchorage to Knoxville, Tn a few years back...he stopped here in Oregon and I took it for a spin...what a nice machine! He said the motor is a detuned Ninja motor...I can't validate that but I can say it had more than enough grunt power to be a great commuter bike for you! Congrats!

If you can get past the looks of the new Concours, it is probably the best bike available today.

Good deal
The thread title sounds right, you'll get your money's worth out of that Concours several times over. Bet the GS was tempting, that's what my neighbor I mentioned before has, rides it all over the US,almost has 90,000 on it.

My Dad said it was a 70 year old guy, leaving out in the stick, had them in a shed. He is going to sell GS eventually too. My dad said he had the RS up to 120 already, smooth.
If I got a GS I would need it lowered.
