For the Indiana ABATE members

I belong to the ABATE of Wis. We heard today, that Indiana ABATE has around 30,000 members. We heard that when you buy a bike and get a license plate for it. You become a member. Is this true?

I told my regional Rep. I'd find out for him..

I became a member thru the safety courses they offer, which includes dues for year one with the course fee..... I don't know of any link between just buying state plates, and ABATE membership

I think the dealers here offer either a HOG or ABATE membership when you purchase a new bike.

Nope, it's not true. The only thing registering your bike in Indiana gets you is a $10 surcharge that goes towards spinal cord injury research. ABATE is figthing that BS. The Indiana ABATE throws a helluva bash every July though. They also own a big chunk of land (where the party is) that has dirt bike trails and whatnot. It's pretty cool and just a few miles from my house.

Do you know how many members Indiana ABATE has?

ABATE here in Wis. just bought some land a couple of years ago. they have there Summer Hummer in June.

I bought my last bike in Indianapolis and I had to re-take the safety course (to satisfy the Army- I was stationed in Indianapolis- Army Recruiting). ABATE does a hell of a job running the safety course and that's one way in which they build their membership. You do not become a member of ABATE simply by buying a bike or by registering the bike in IN.
