Yet another windshield ?
Having done my homework, I can attest to the magnitude of windshield threads! BUT, being I love my sporty, there is a bit of a hole. As usual, there are 3 considerations, and one seems to get to pick 2.
-function -style -price I have a somewhat unique qualification to enter into the mix for some interest, as I have had open heart surgery, and so chest protection is a major concern. So here is my quest. Is there a "_______" out there that a}protects my chest, b} lowers wind noise c} does not promote "bobble head" (neck fusion as result of the open heart surger) d} looks "ok" (read not a road king or heritage) and e} does not cost over $300? Contenders and objections- -windvest- all accounts have been positive for chest protection and no bobble head, BUT, is $390, is small and does nothing for wind noise. -National cycle Street- Good price at $120, will protect chest, looks great, but dubious on noise. -National cycle Gladiator- looks great on a sporty, limited protection, cost is $250 and is likely to not do much for noise. -Memphis shade Fats- great for protection, great for noise, is $290 or a bit more, looks like a "wanna be bagger" -embo viper- looks like it was build FOR a sporty, $80, but one would have to do a LOT of talking to the special Lady in life to convince her its ANY protection of any sort, let alone chest and noise. Obviously, I could use some help here guys. Any suggestions I have not encountered? ANY? For the sake of complication and clarity, I run a 08 883c. I spend MOST of my time on highway or interstate, and regularly do 400-500 days. Ray |

Did your Dr. Say you have to worry about impacts to your chest more than anyone else? Sounds weird, did he leave part of your rib cage out or something? Once the bone is healed it's at least as strong as prior to being cut. I'd take that factor out of the mix.

Since they completely opened my rib cage, my sturnam never "mends". I am sewed shut like a turkey with stuffing. At least its silver thread! LOL. Its been 3 1/2 years since the surgery, and I can still feel movement. So I know I am a bit compromised there. And yes, both my cardiologist and surgeon did say I had to be very careful. Even to the point of having a 10# weight limit for carrying things.

The ATGATT, all the gear all the time, people wear chest protectors. Something to think about. Though I have never been hit in the chest, that I can remember.

Yeah, they make chest protectors built into shirts too. I don't think any windshield will give you better chest protection that any other.

Any windshield with a "Recurve" on it will perform as if it was 2 inches taller than a conventional shield.Mostly seen those for EGlides, but noted that lately Klockwerks is making one for RoadKings. As competitive as that markets getting there may be a sporty version out there someplace.
(edit) found a Sporty...looks like Klockwerks is doing those now too.,It's $ 229 I've delt with them, good people.Their number's (605) 996-3700 might be better to ask questions to see if it would fit your needs...They might have a demo you can try before ya buy.
