If you think you can't push any hard on the bar, your other choice is to crash.

So if you are about to crash, keep telling yourself "push the fucker down, push the fucker down"

Kinda hard to repeat the story I guess...

Also, this is only regarding curves, not t-bonin'.

I don't think most of us are equipped to lay the bike down. To lay it down, you'd have to lock the rear brake, toss it sideways until you low side. If you screw it up, you could launch yourself into a highside. I Just don't think laying it down in the vast majority of cases is an option. I think most "laid down" bikes go sideways and down unintentionally, or the front wheel locks up and washes out...same result.

I don't think you've tried the new Brembo brakes yet, have you? Those are tits and nipples.

What he was talking about is push the handle bar even harder, extra hard counter steering is at least a chance, better than crashing because you gave up.

Maybe you can lay it down, I don't intend to find out if you can...
This is a little different than the scenario's I've been talking about....hitting cars. I believe it might be possible to lay it down in a corner, but it takes balls to push it down until you lowside in a corner. I think most let up and hit a tree.

It's all bullshit Dan. Like you said from the get go. Maybe a stunt man. And even he has to plan the entire motion from begining to end.

I've slide down the interstate, 3 lanes each way, seperated by concrete barrier, morning commute. Got up and went to work.

"I laid it down" is short for I crashed. I can't imagine ever hoping to stop faster by sliding on metal than on rubber.

I practice my emergency braking, every time I pass a new bar. It helps if your loosened up.

A guy that teaches the motorcycle safety course says "the course tells you to seperate yourself from the accident by getting as high (that does not mean smoking a dooby on the bike before the crash) as you can on the bike and hopefully you fly over and away from the crashing vehicles". Of course if you are about to t-bone a tractor trailer or a freight train this probably does not apply. The guy that told me this had a 40 MPH crash into a car that made a u-turn in front of him and he flew into a guard rail, then bounced out into the woods and hit several trees, broke alot of bones and was out of work and off a bike for six years from this 40 MPH crash.

So there are alot of opinions but there just isn't a best way. Sliding sideway, even if you don't go down exposes your side to the crash. Your body is not made to absorb impact from the side. Also sliding makes you more likely to go under the car then to bounce off of it.

And counter steer - when you have it down hard in a turn and starting to slide you steer the front wheel in the diection the bike is moving in (in a car it would be turning into the direction of the skid) to try and regain some control. I have never done that but you guys that were dirt junkies in your younger days might have done that on a regular basis, maybe not have even realized that you were doing it.
