Can't throw a rock without hitting a place offering the Flu Vaccine

How the hell did the human race survive without it until lately,WTF am I the only person that thinks it's just more pharmaceutical company bullshit ?

Freaking pharmaceutical companies are powerful,they have their slimy fingers all over our politicians in Washington,the ruthless fucks rarely send a rep to a doctor's office who doesn't look like a world class super model.

Getting injected with anything like that is against my personal/religious beliefs and even if it wasn't,just knowing what's in the vaccine and the crap- shoot that they use each year to determine how to formulate the junk they put in the syringe they stick ya with would be enough for me to say no thanks.

Never had a flu shot..... the missus gets one every year, and she gets sick every year too..... didn't need it when I was young, and I don't need it now.

Of course it's a pharma thing, lots of money in it. But at the same time, flu used to be one of the top causes of death in this country before vaccines, so it's not all hype. Still kills lots of old people. I get one every year for shits and grins but mine's part of the insurance at work, nothing out of pocket. I'd bet dollars to donuts next time you're shittin out both ends you'd be willing to pay $20 to make it go away. I've has the flu couple times it's no fun. It's good to be an American though, roll the dice however ya want, it's all good.

I never got a flu shot for as far back as I remember it being offered. Driven by age mainly. But I got the flu 2 years ago (and missed a Queensryche concert

) I was 56 at the time. Thought OK, gonna feel like shit for a couple days, ache. Like the last time I had flu in '68 in high school. Well, I missed 8 days of work (and I've never EVER missed over two for illness) and I truly thought I was going to die.

I get a flu shot now. They're free- administered by my daughter who is a nurse. She bootlegs us a shot, right in my kitchen.

Now, I don't have a religious, ethical, or moral bone in my aging body. I don't think it strange to be injected with dead antogens to kick my immune system in the ass, any more than getting two tiny stents rammed up my groin 6 years ago to open up my coronary arteries, thereby giving me a new lease on life.

Big Hospital teamed up with Big Pharm and Big Radiation, and saved my wife's life from late Stage II breast cancer 11 years ago. If an evil cabal exists, I'll stand mute on it, and take what it gave us.

In downtown Indy, there is the Indiana War Memorial, built in 1922. Within this is a museum and there's a segment that lists the Indiana war dead, by county of residence, and their cause of death. Influenza killed a much larger segment of those troops than the Kaiser's machine guns and his mustard gas combined.

My ex boss talked me into getting one a half dozen years back or so,it was the only year that I've had the flu in many many years,lotta fucking good it did.
I think whatever doesn't kill ya makes ya stronger.

I didn't used to get them, then as I got older the flu started hitting me in a bad way. Now, if I do get sick, it's more like a cold. I get one each year now.

Two common misconceptions out there:

1)A flu shot protects you against all flu. It doesn't, in any given year they make an educated guess and include the three most probable. There's some cross immunity, but you can still get any other strain.

2)A really bad cold is the flu. Most people who think they have the flu don't.

Doctors might talk the talk but 60% of them don't get flu vaccinations -

Lot of stuff in those shots that I can live without and the odds of them being effective aren't as good as going to Vegas.

Egg proteins: including avian contaminant viruses

Gelatin: can cause allergic reactions and anaphylaxis are usually associated with sensitivity to egg or gelatin

Polysorbate 80 (Tween80™): can cause severe allergic reactions, including
anaphylaxis. Also associated with inferility in female mice.

Formaldehyde: known carcinogen

Triton X100: a strong detergent

Sucrose: table sugar

Resin: known to cause allergic reactions

Gentamycin: an antibiotic

Thimerosal: mercury is still in multidose flu shot vials

Soon to turn 62 I've never had a flu shot. Thought about it but the thought passed. I know that influenza killed thousands of people in the U.S. back in the teens. Would what we call a pandemic now. I do know that if you go into the service you're gonna get cholera, disinterry, malaria pills all kinds of shit before you go over seas and some just for shits and giggles. Only time I've ever really been sick was when we got that big assed penicillin shot in the ass and stiffened my hip up like a bride grooms pecker on his wedding night. Oh forgot one when I became allergic to penicillin after a shot, don't ever want to do that again. Flu shot think I'll take my chances.

I get 'em if I think of it. I've not gotten the flu when a lot of coworkers did. I know they miss sometimes on what strain's going around but it seems that as I get older it takes longer to get better.
