When I say the Indians at the bike show in 2009, they had some kind of weird, non shiny paint, that I didn't care for.

I hope it works, but I'm not buying one. There was a guy near me who had one from the last Indian go-round. It was a really sweet bike.

I love my Harley's but strong competition is never a bad thing. It would force Harley to lower their prices and improve their quality control. I'd be up for a US made bike by someone other than Harley but I've never really liked the Victory bikes.

I've only actually seen a grand total of one. This was a "modern" one, and quite spiffy. But it looked to me like a cross between a Road King and a Deluxe.
My sense is that these bikes are (now) catalog-component cruisers, with purchased engines, trannies and the like? So, if I were in a market for a visually fetching cruiser, would I pop $30k for a bike I couldn't get serviced? Or a $18k Deluxe?

The Indians have there own engine, they only used S&S for a couple years. I had heard it was a legal condition, to able to use the name.
I probably won't buy one, but I am not in the market for a cruiser. I may buy a Vic touring bike someday. If they added more storage to the Vision or dressed up the Cross Country, I would think about it.

I know this isn't logical but in a superficial kind of way Polaris having a name like Indian as part of company no matter that the name's changed hands a few times sort of adds a bit of weight/creditability to the whole deal.The buy American guys are gonna see a company with Indian being part of the equation even if they're looking to buy a Victory.
