Little ole ride
Got back into London Ky after a nice holiday on Monday, about 3:30 p.m.. Decided right away it was ride time, checked the tires, checked the brakes, checked the oil, and fired that mother up. Down to BP cause they are needing the money and filled up with Premium $3.05 per gallon. Started out by stopping by the Stealer to look at the new scooters and see whats new. Nothing. Off towards Hazard Ky and get off the parkway at Manchester and go north 451 for about 20 miles then west on 30 back towards London. Great little ride of about 80 miles. Stopped in Shiloh's [watering hole with wings], good cold assed draft bud, wings and homemade tater chips. Out and head to the house. Leaving Shiloh's noticed a scrapping sound but couldn't place the noise [kinda hard to do at 70], get to the garage, shut the scooter off and low and behold my Belt guard has broken from the bracket and lying there somehow. You can see in the pictures where it has polished my back belt pulley and how close I came to suddenly coming to an abrupt halt with belt pulley jambed into the back area. The belt guard was lying between the shock and
the back belt pulley just grinding its little self to nothing

Its that kind of shit that makes me wish I had a welder. Friggin' spot welds. Powder coat works great on a belt guard.

After further review of the pieces parts, there is one more part still on the bike, where it bolts to the backside of the shock absorber mount. The tab looks like someone cut it cleanly into, vibration must have gotten to it. Oh well time for a new one or just leave it like it is. Wish a nightster belt guard would work

Luck was on yer side, otherwise, I'd possibly be reading your week starting bruise report. Agree with the weld comments. I always prefer a spot of weld over a bolt and nut, though sometimes it can't be done because of the part location.

Was sounding like a perfect day, I was waiting for Bud girls to be there and wanting toi go for a ride.
after all the gravel riding I've done, I want a belt guard. I met a guy with 99, 150k, Now on his 4th belt. I think my 07 guard is tighter. I am not sure they were trying to improve anything. May be a function of the wider tire and cosmetics.
