How many of you guys have windshields?

I was out for about 200 miles today, and found myself a couple of times wishing for a windshield. Last bike I had was a FLT with the full fairing, and that was 10 years ago, but the 883 looks SO darn good just as is, not sure I want to clutter up the front end with a sail. SO, do you "get used to it" in time? Just man up and ride? Say screw it, lets ride WITH a windshield? I dont want to lay down 4 bills and then have to grump about it every time I ride. I dont know how much of a difference a plastic sail would make on the 883, the full fairing, now that was a different matter all together.

Any advise?

300 miles is OK without a windshield. Anything longer and I consider a windshield a must. They have some that leave no hardware on the bike when you're not using it.

Who needs a windshield when you have a bungee cord holding your forks together.

I have a windshield on my Dyna and it's just my town bike. Like it, too.

I rarely take the the windshield off my FLHR. They do make detachable windshields, but I bet it doesn't come off much.

I've got a Memphis Fats I put on most winters, & it does make a difference on the amount of wind fatigue I get, but I have to be careful to get the height right each year or the buffeting is pretty brutal. Strong cross winds can be kind of annoying too as they have a tendency to catch the windshield and blow the bike around.

My daughter had a smaller windshield on her sporty for a while & liked it ok, although she did mention that it made riding on hot days a little less comfortable because of the reduced airflow...
