Bad cam bearing 96 EVO.....pics
Here's some pic's from Garry's buddie Lou's bike after his cam bearing failed.
first pic is the bad bearing the lower side of the race had been eaten down to the crank case, ![]() this pic is of the rollers that were crumbling in the race, they had fallen forward into the cam chest when the cam was removed. You can see the damage to the teeth of the pinion from the misalignment of the bearing. this pick is the bearing removed![]() you could see on the outer side of the race , it was the notorious INA bearing that had failed, and I replaced it with a torrington , shown in this pick..all ready to install the new cam , We choose the EV27 to give the bike a little more umph.. more pics to come..

Good choice on the EV 27 cam. It's got a great lope to it and good low end power.
Jam, is the stock bearing not a roller pin style bearing?

I would have replaced the breather gear while you were at it too. Had the whitish color button come off the end of the one in my son's bike and siezed the oil pump as it tried to go through. Also on my bike and his I could never stop the oil leaks with that gear in there. Replaced both with the S&S reed valve type and have been very happy with them. looks like fun.
