Tried to buy up to a Rocker C

Took my Sporty in for a short in the headlight which kept blowing fuses and while there I inquired about trading in my bike and buy the new Rocker C. I was told that they would only give me $3985 for my '07 with 4000 miles and in pristine condition. I owe $6300 so it became very clear that the dealer would be very happy for me to pay them to take my bike and then buy the $21000 Rocker. Well I still have my Sporty and after the first of the year I'll pay it off and then sell it for $7200 and then maybe I'll turn around and buy one of those new American Iron Horse Choppers. But at least the dealer was up front and honest about the deal instead of trying to sucker me in.

Well good luck getting $7200 for a used 883, but I hear you, trade-in prices are a joke. Personally, I'd keep the Sporty and skip the Rocker....

You are always better off selling rather trading in, but I'm sure you know that. Thats is what prompted the guy selling his bake last night.....damn dealer insulted him with the trade in value.

I went to trade in a 2006 1200 Custom and my dealers here would only give me $5,000 trade in...I ended up selling it myself for $9,200.

Buy:
used from the Dealers... The Best prices Ive ever seen on used Harleys are at the dealers. Mostly low mileage *returned* impulse purchases. 5/10 yr old bikes with less than 10K miles on them.
....Everyone else tends to Over value them.

Was thinking about getting a New Heritage when the Dealer offered me 3K for trade in on 04 Sporty ... Just Laughed got over 10K in it with Upgrades and Added goodies so am content to be a 2 Bike owner ... and don't owe anyone a damn thing bought the 04 Heritage for 14K with less than 5K miles on it....

They can afford to sell them cheaper because they bought them for so little in the first place.
