They will run from you or tell you this is not my department. One guy at Home Depot was really helpful and I asked him why the store sucked so bad and he said that they only had a few full time people and the rest are temp part timers that Home Depot wont hire enough people. I always go to Lowes, and only to Home Depot if I can not find it at Lowes.

Should have gone to a custom shop,on remodels I usually make appointments to meet homeowners on site within the same week that they call and have accurate drawings and a written quote with all options (delivery & installation included) within two weeks of the first meeting.
After a final meeting at our shop to get all the details signed off on I give them our current estimated lead time for delivery and installation (usually about 4-6 weeks).
Once in production I coordinate with the homeowner/contractor and any subs like plumbers and electricians to nail down an accurate delivery/install date and make sure wiring and plumbing/flooring etc is all compatible with the cabinetry so the job will run smooth.
This also means they don't have to tear out the old kitchen any sooner than necessary leaving the homeowner waiting for weeks/months without a kitchen and assures us that the job is ready when we get there.
I also keep tabs on job progress every week or two and adjust our schedule if need be in they are behind on their schedule.
Our custom made product is also far and away better quality than what you would get in the factory made junk at a big box store,I could go on and on about the differences.
Now I'm sure you would think it to be big money for this kind of quality and service but the truth is after reading the fine print and getting a price on delivery & installation (not always in their quotes) the big boys aren't the bargain they make themselves out to be.
Add in the fact that the custom made stuff we build actuality fits with no mods or added fillers and will hold up better over time plus gets delivered and installed when we say it will and you'll find that we are the real bargain.
Support small business I say! you'll be glad you did in the long run if you do your homework.
Any good small business will be glad to give you references,I always do when asked and love to give a shop tour to folks that want to see how things are built.
