| This is why I like the derringer. The Davis I had, was junk, you could tell. This one feels sturdy. Heavy. Fird 230grn .45 cowboy loads through it. Out of 10 shots at around 12 feet 9 were on the paper, most in the rings. Shot a through a 2x6. What I like about this gun, is I am more likely to have it with me.

| I was somewhat surprised how well it shot, for a 45 LC. Kick is not bad. Some shots the hammer hit me. Not all, so need to figure what I am doing wrong. Maybe to loose. If I was shooting lots, a leather glove would be good. But its not like I am sore.

| Manual says to maintain a gap between your hand and hammer. It hit my hand on the 2nd shot. So must be choking it to high. Not hard enough to be sore, just to notice.

| They had two Defenders, one .45LC and one .45LC/.410. Same length barrell. I didn't really know the difference, but figured I wanted the one that did .410. Was reading on there site that the .410 has less rifleling, looks about 3/4", and the bullet may not stabilizes as well. Hindsight I may have got the .45LC and then for .45/.410 in a longer barrell. They can be changed out.

| Manual say less recoil from bottom barrell, and that compettion shooters choose to have bottom first, so they can get the 2nd off quicker. You can tell which barrel will fire by looking at the pins, but I haven't paid that much attention to it. Recoil is ok, with .45 cowboys.
