.22 Pistol
Got my first semi auto hand gun. High Standard Sport King, .22. From the serial number I think it was made early 50s.
Outside of barrel has a bit of rust. But bore looks good. Put a few rounds through it, to see that it fires. Need to look on the web for owners manual. Not sure if it has a safety. Hard to clean the barrel, I couldn't figure out how to get the slide to stay back. I then read, early models would not stay back without a clip. I have never heard of High Standard, but they are still around and seem to have made a few guns. They made .22s that were used in the Olypics at one time, not this model. I'll post up a pic later.

Yep, thats it in the pic. Goes with my Nazi costume.
The blueing has a bit of rust, I am hoping the oil takes most of it off. either way it will just be for plinking.

It seems to have gotten good feedback, but I have never heard of High Standard. American made.
Its in three pieces right now, comes apart easy. I don't know much about semi-autos. So far just spraying it down and letting it sit. Wiping out gunk. I did find the safety. First three shots fired out it perfect. Then afte that it jammed on the first round and did ok after that a few times. This was after I took the barrell off, so maybe I did something wrong. Not sure if I should be doing anything with the clips. I am storing them empty right now, so the spring is relaxed. Got two.

If I'd never felt the sunshine, hell I would not curse the rain If my feet could fit a railroad track, I guess I'd been a train If you waste your time a-talkin' to the people who don't listen, to the things that you are sayin', who do you think's gonna hear. And if you should die explainin' how the things that they complain about, are things they could be changin', who do you think's gonna care? |

This is VERY true Depends on the magazine - some don't come apart as easy as others. Look at the base plate on the mag, is there a little button that you can push up on? If so, you push up on that and try to slide the plate off - but BE CAREFUL, the spring is pushing up on the plate. Basically your just wiping the parts down to get rid of any dirt and grime, sometimes I'll wipe down the spring and follower (if it's metal) with a patch that has a little oil on it. I usually do the outside of the metal housing too. Here's a little info on magazines Magazine (firearms) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
