Sp 101
Tomorrow I'm going to buy one of these. I have been looking around for a .357 to carry when I'm out in the woods or out hiking. I have decided that the
Ruger SP101 3" is the one for me. Do any of you fine folks have one yet?

Yep...had one for years. never been to fond of the factory grip...but it does tame the recoil a bit better than my SW M60 3in.
I like the sights on the SW better, But its a 3in gun... so it is what it is. I like the way the Rugers disassemble. As for the wieght, its a bit of a boat anchor ...but, hell carrying anything will get heavy after awhile. Certainly no worse than my 1911.

I've got one, haven't shot anyone with it. The first one, the shells got stuck in the chamber, so they gave me another.
I agree, with WaBiker, the grip isn't the best. But I suppose the point is it supposed to be small. I've got the one with bobbed hammer. Are you smuggling this in from AZ?

...Currrently Im taking a very close look at the new .327 Fed mag, prolly in the SW Carry Comp. From Everything Im reading this might fill the bill for me.

SP 101 is a great little pistol but a bit heavy. If its going to be a gun thats carried alot and seldom shot I recommend a lighter revolver. If your in bear country I recommend something with a bit more power. .44 spl, .45 colt or .44 magnum.

I also got S&W .44spcl. That was my first carry gun. Not that compact though. The guns I have seen, S&W are better wheel guns.
