WAUKEGAN, Ill. -- An Illinois motorist convicted of reckless homicide for painting her nails while she struck and killed a 56-year-old motorcyclist will get to spend the holidays with her family.



A Lake County judge on Thursday gave Lora Hunt of Morris permission to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas at home. Hunt was convicted in the death of 56-year-old Anita Zaffke of Lake Zurich, who was stopped at a traffic signal when she was struck.

Hunt's request for early release was denied. She was sentenced to 1 1/2 years in jail for the May 2009 crash. She is allowed to leave a Waukegan jail during the day to go to work, attend church, receive counseling or perform community service.

Her sentence is scheduled to be completed in January.

...I'm all about forgivness, but fuckin-A, between work, counciling, community service and spending time with her family this POS does nothing more than sleep in jail. Gaddamn sick. The judge is bitch.

She is out of work, so she may be on food stamps.

Don't they have church service in jail? Same with counseling. Community service can wait until she gets out.

I don't thinks she's out of work, the article said she gets out to go to work. I think it's all bullshit. She should just sit. WTF good is incarceration if there's no actual punishment involved? Big slap in the face to the victim's family.

I was just being sarcastic about food stamps paying for thanksgiving dinner. I agree, about keeping her locked up. I am so-so on work release. If she was supporting a family I might be ok with it. But letting her out for holidays is BS. Same with the rest. She can go to service in the pen, like the rest.
